Originally from the island of Niodior at the mouth of the Saloum river, Abdou is a former Peace Corps language instructor and holds a certificate in language teaching from the International School in Brattleboro Vermont. He first studied at the College of Wooster in Ohio in the US. in the States and went on Auburn University in Alabama where he learned aquaculture. He later applied his newly acquired skills to a fish farming project in Lac de Guiers in Ker Momar, the Region of Louga. During a recent stay in the US, he offered courses in Wolof and African culture at the University of New York in Buffalo.
